Warehousing and Logistics

ROI Dairy Processor

Faced with elimination of milk quota restrictions from 2015, our client required a revised warehousing solution to handle a projected 60% volume growth to 2020.

We were initially requested to model and project phased storage requirements, and then define internal and external options to support these. Internal options evaluated included the development of both new conventional and fully automated storage facilities. We also identified and evaluated a number of potential 4PL options.

The study’s recommended option was accepted by the client and subsequently implemented.

NI FMCG Business

This client is the leading supplier of consumer milk and dairy products in NI, supplying through the multiple, other retail and convenience channels. Their distribution process comprised a number of standalone regional storage and delivery nodes across the province.

We were requested to complete an operational benchmarking exercise – this identified that a central distribution model would deliver signification operational efficiencies, together with reducing stock levels and wastage.

Following board approval, we assisted the internal team in sizing/designing the new central chilled facility and developing supporting operational standards, manning levels and budgets.

ROI Drinks Distributor

Our client markets and distributes a range of spirits and wine products in Ireland for a number of leading global brands. Their internal storage and order picking capabilities were being stretched by ongoing business growth.

MDR assisted the client in completing a detailed analysis of their operational efficiencies and future storage requirements. This identified outsourcing as the preferred strategic option.

We subsequently supported them through the tendering, supplier selection, negotiation, and contract development phases of their outsourcing process.
